The most important consideration when choosing an LED bulb is its color temperature. Color temperature is measured in Kelvins (K), and higher temperatures indicate cooler colors. Warmer colors are best for residential applications, while cool colors work well in commercial and industrial settings.
The right LED bulb will depend on the environment in which you plan to use it. For example, a study area may be better suited to a bulb on the cooler end of the spectrum, while a room where people socialize should be lit with warm-colored bulbs.

Lastly, there are three-way LED bulbs that can be used with lamps and fixtures that have three brightness settings instead of just on or off.
In addition to the different shapes, LED bulbs can be categorized by color temperature and other features that help them perform best in specific environments or applications. For example, if you are looking for an LED replacement bulb to install in your dining room table lamp, you will likely want a warmer, yellower option (2,700-3,000K). On the other hand, for task lighting in office spaces or warehouses, a cool white light (4,000K) may be more effective.
